j, The Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue University convened in the Trustees' Room in the Executive Building of Purdue University, Lafayette, Indiana, on Wednesday, October 16, 1940, at 9:30 A. M., pursuant to the follov.dng notice

In accordance v/ith the provisions of the By-Laws, there v/ill be a stated meeting of the Board of Trustees of The Trustees of Purdue Univer¬ sity on Wednesday and Thursday, October 16 and 17, 1940, convening at 9;30 A. M., V/'ednesuay, in the Trustees' Room of the Executive Building of the University.
Amiong the imiportant items on the agenda for the meeting are:
1. Receive, open, consider, and act upon bids for the (a) general construction, (b) plumbing, (c) heating and ventilating, (d) electrical wiring and light fixtures, or (e) combinations of any ti'/o or more classifications (a), (b), (c), or (d) rjcrtain- ing to the construction of and equipment for the proposed nev/ Physics Building.
2. Consider and act upon any and all matters pertaining to the construction and financing of the proposed nev/ Physics Building.
3. Confirm the proceedings of the meeting of the Executive and Finance Committee held September 19, 1940.
4. Consider and act upon any other matters or business v/hich may come before said meeting.

i The meeting v/as called to order at 9:30 A. M. by President Ross. The fol-
j lo;ving Trustees were present: Miss McHale, Mr. Edgerton, Mr. Hillenbrand, Mr.

' Noel, Mr. Ross, and Mr. Stuart, being a majori-ty and quorum of the Board. Mr.

I Sturm entered the meeting at 2:45 P. M. Mr. Wheeler v/as absent because of an I injury.
ji Upon prop.ar motion, duly ceconded and unanimously carried,the Board ap¬ proved Mr. VJheeler's excuse for absence.
