Stein in La Fayette, and after some conference touching the interests of the University they adjourned to meet to-morrow morning at said office. Sept. 4th, 1879. 10 o’clock A.M. Pursuant to adjournment the Trustees reassembled at the above time at Mr. Stein’s office: Present the President Mr. Sutherland and Mess. [Messieurs] Wells, Haynes, Ratliff, Williams and Dobelbower; also Prest. [President] White and Treasurer Peirce. The Minutes of the sessions held on March 13th, 1879 and in June were read and approved. Treasurer Peirce then submitted to the Board his official Bond as Treasurer of Purdue University which with its sureties was unanimously approved and ordered to be spread on the Minute Book—which is now done, the same reading as follows, viz:Know all men by these presents that we Martin L. Peirce, Robt. [Robert] W Sample, Hiram W. Chase, James B. Falley, William Wallace and Oliver W. Peirce all of Lafayette Indiana, are held and firmly bound unto the state of Indiana for the use of Purdue university in the penal sum of Three hundred thousand dollars, for the payment whereof well and truly to be made, we hereby bind ourselves, and our legal representatives, Signed and sealed on this 3d day of September A.D. 1879. The Condition of the above obligation is such that whereas the said Martin L. Peirce, has been by the Trustees of Purdue University elected Treasurer of said Trustees
