An offlce can be taken off, of wash-room, If desired. THE DAIRY BUEIHKBb. A correspondent of tho Breeders GV/.jtte says: The dairy business of Illinois is gradually but assuredly extending south* ward, and In a few years there will be a Urge number of creameries and cheese factories ln the southern counties of this State. I'ntll a few yearn ago It was erroneously supposed that thero was a "dairy belt" ln the United States, outside of which butter and cheese of a fine quality could not be produced. That belt extended through a portion of the New Kngland States, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Northern Indiana, Southern Michigan,- Northern Illinois, Southern Wisconsin, Sauthern Minnesota, Northern Iowa, Central and Northern Nebraska, portions of California and Oregon. North of that line the advocates of the dairy belt said it was too cold.the winters too long,to ever become a dairy section; while south of lt the weather was too warm to admit of making gocd butter. P.at sh far north aa Winnipeg croameries are In successful operation, and as far south as Mlsa- iMlppi, and they find these sections neither too cold nor too hot tor the dairy business. I am firmly convinced that wherever good water can be found and good grass, such as clover, timothy, or orchard grass, etc , grows, and corn and oata can be raised, the dairy business can be made profitable, and with the railway facilities we now have it Is not necessary to grow corn, as the meal can be shipped in from the corn- growing States, as bran is now shipped from the wheat-growing States. The foundations for our new Union Depot have been laid bread and deep, notwithstanding the unfavorable weather. The superstructure will go forward rapidly aB soon as -spring opens. Thk Mormons are a spunky set and declare they will continue their polygamous practices notwithstanding the recent law that Congress has enacted against it. Tbey may find ont that Uncle Sam Is too many tor them.
