TitleTomb of an Indian chief
Other TitleTomb of a chief
CreatorWinter, George, 1810-1876
Description"The tomb of an Indian chief unrevised" [title from verso of last page] AMs, 3 p. (2 sheets) The decaying tomb of the chief evokes grave thoughts of mortality. The location in the forest, with a white flag overhead, is serene and peaceful. The felling of the forests has disturbed its sanctity, and the spot is no longer as it was when he first viewed it. The grave has been desecrated and plundered, which is a travesty to the ideals of Christianity and civilization.
