| Description | Handwritten letter From: Geo. Slocum, Waltry, Indiana, Dec. 22, 1846 To: George Winter, Logansport ALS, 2 p. (1 sheet, folded) Slocum does not know the whereabouts of George Winter's portrait of Frances, about which he had written to inquire. |
| Description Continued | Two years previously, Slocum had visited G.W.'s studio to see the portrait, but could not as G.W. was away in Ohio at that time. Mr. Miller had informed Slocum that Ewing had refused to pay the "extravagant price" G.W. had asked for it. Slocum requests that G.W. state his lowest price for the work, which he will pay if it is reasonable. Notation on address side: received Jan. 6, 1847; responded Jan. 13, 1847. |
