| Creator | Winter, George, 1810-1876
|
| Description | "Yo-ca-top-kone. or Henry Taylor, the husband of 'Maurie.'" (title from verso; Ms incomplete) AMs, 1 p. (written on back of preprinted insurance form) |
| Description Continued | Essay to accompany a sketch of Yo-ca-top-kone, a white man who was in the employ of Ewing and Walker, the Indian traders. Such traders are only interested in personal gain, with no regard for ethics. Taylor was one of their most trusted clerks. It is common for white men living and working closely with the Indians to marry Indian women, and as a result there were many "half breeds." The sketch shows him in full Indian regalia, which he put on for George Winter's benefit when they were at Kee-waw-nay. |
