| Description Continued | Discusses Me-shin-go-ma-she-a, Chief of the Miamis after Richardville, and the other Indian families (Slocums, Godfroys, La Fontaines, and Richardvilles) who were allowed to remain east of the Mississippi after the emigration. Me-shin-go-ma-she-a and Frances Godfroy were leaders of the Indians who repelled Col. Campbell at the battle of the Mississinawa. Campbell's impressions of that battle and the Indian strength, contrasted with Godfroy's report. (Partly or completely consists of notes from an unspecified book; page number given.) On reverse: notice of distribution of twenty-seven works by G.W. on December 28, 1872, at Corinthian Hall in Lafayette. Titles, sizes, and prices are given (ranging from eight "Little Gems" at $12.00 to "The Home of Mon-o-con-a-que" at $125.00; subscriptions $2.00 each). Most items are landscapes of local scenes, including the Upper Wabash, the Mississinawa, the Wabash near Logansport, and the creek near Today Battle Ground. |
