| Other Title | Bible. O.T. Isaiah |
| Description | The text of the original vellum leaf on view is the end of Chapter 41 and the beginning of Chapter 42 of the Book of Isaiah of the Old Testament. An abbreviation of Isaiah's name occurs at the top of the page (not visible). |
| Description Continued | In the upper part of the right column of text occurs the rubric "C XLII." This is an abbreviation for Chapter (Latin Caput) 42, which begins immediately below. The first initial of this Chapter is a very elegant "E, " painted in blue and embellished with delicate brown, spiralling tendrils. The ensuing text, written in black ink, is done in Gothic Script. Starting with the "E" of the Latin Ecce, the passage reads as follows: "Behold my servant, whom I uphold; mine elect, in whom my soul delighteth; I have put my spirit upon him: he shall bring forth judgement to the Gentiles." |
