| Description Continued | Large group of figures in wooded area, most seated, some standing; one man astride horse. In center of scene, many persons seated on ground, facing a lean-to with fabric hung over vertical and horizontal supports, sheltering five men (three in clerical garb, two in Indian attire), apparently standing on raised platform. In background, numerous campsites with tents, cooking pots suspended from forked uprights; also horses grazing. Women's clothing includes decorated cape-like collars, skirts, shawls worn over head or shoulders, blankets, moccasins, cone earbobs, multi-strand necklaces, hourglass-shaped hair bows. Men's clothing includes ruffled and plain shirts, vest, blanket (one belted), double-breasted coat, sashes from shoulders, winged leggings, turbans (some with patterned tails, peaked fronts, or hair roaches), headbands with hair roaches, queues tied with ribbon bows; ear wheels suspended from long loops.
