Abstract of Interview
Robert
A.
Greenkorn
began
his
career
at
Purdue
in
1965
in the
College
of
Chemical
Engineering
and was
appointed
Head
of the
College
in
1967.
He
talks
about
his
responsibilities
,
challenges
,
students
and
faculty
, as
well
as
teaching.
His
research
fields
include
transport
phenomena
in
porous
media
and
fluid
dynamics.
As
Assistant
Dean
for
Research
he also was
Director
of the
School
of
Engineering
Institute
for
Interdisciplinary
Engineering
Studies
and
Associate
Director
of the
Engineering
Experiment
Station.
He
talks
about
responsibilities
as
Associate
Dean
of
Engineering
and
Vice
President
and
Provost
,
along
with
Vice
President
of
Programs
for the
Purdue
Research
Foundation
(PRF)
, with
primary
responsibility
for
strengthening
federal
and
industrial
programs
at the
university.
After
serving
as
Vice
President
of
Research
and
Dean
of the
Graduate
School
, he
stepped
down
to
return
to
teaching
and
research
and
continued
to be the
Universitys
federal
relations
liaison.
Greenkorn
is
the
recipient
of
many
honors
including
a
Fellowship
of the
American
Society
of
Engineering
Education
and the
American
Institute
of
Chemical
Engineers.
Greenkorn
was
honored
with a
distinguished
professorship
in
1995
, the
E.
Games
Slayter
Distinguished
Professor
of
Chemical
Engineering.
