Abstract of InterviewChris Foster was born and raised in Cleveland, Ohio where he received a Bachelors degree in earth science from Baldwin-Wallace College. He talks about his years of teaching science, meeting his wife, Purdue President France Cordova, on a rock climbing expedition in Los Almos, New Mexico and accompanying her to subsequent posts at Penn State University, NASA, University of California, Santa Barbara and Purdue University. At the University of California-Riverside he was Director of Undergraduate Research and Student Professional Organizations. He has served as deputy Assistant Director for Education at the National Oceanic and Atmosphere Administration (NOAA). Foster has been appointed Director of Discovery Parks K-12 programs that focus on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics education.
