Abstract of InterviewBilly E. Hooper talks about being a faculty member at the School of Veterinary Medicine and then promoted to Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in 1973. He discusses the Veterinary auto-tutorial laboratory, the library and its first librarian, Ann Kerker, who led it to receive high marks among other vet libraries, and funding for facilities. Hooper talks about an NLM grant in 1976 which provided a service for in-state veterinarians to receive assistance in their information needs, ranging from a computerized literature search to consultation with a school faculty or staff person. He also talks about the Statewide Medical Education system, which started in 1970, classes for beginning students in IU School of Medicine which were held in Lynn Hall, and Veterinary Medicine faculty serving as adjunct professors. After resigning from the School of Veterinary Medicine he served as Executive Secretary of the American Veterinary Medicine Association, then taught veterinary medicine in Oklahoma and returned to Lafayette to reside.
