Billy
E.
Hooper
talks
about
being
a
faculty
member
at the
School
of
Veterinary
Medicine
and then
promoted
to
Associate
Dean
for
Academic
Affairs
in
1973.
He
discusses
the
Veterinary
auto-tutorial
laboratory
, the
library
and its
first
librarian
,
Ann
Kerker
,
who
led
it
to
receive
high
marks
among
other
vet
libraries
, and
funding
for
facilities.
Hooper
talks
about
an
NLM
grant
in
1976
which
provided
a
service
for
in-state
veterinarians
to
receive
assistance
in their
information
needs
,
ranging
from a
computerized
literature
search
to
consultation
with a
school
faculty
or
staff
person.
He also
talks
about
the
Statewide
Medical
Education
system
,
which
started
in
1970
,
classes
for
beginning
students
in
IU
School
of
Medicine
which
were
held
in
Lynn
Hall
, and
Veterinary
Medicine
faculty
serving
as
adjunct
professors.
After
resigning
from the
School
of
Veterinary
Medicine
he
served
as
Executive
Secretary
of the
American
Veterinary
Medicine
Association
, then
taught
veterinary
medicine
in
Oklahoma
and
returned
to
Lafayette
to
reside.
