Abstract of InterviewRichard E. Grace graduated from Purdue in 1951. He discusses the early years, education, and his appointment at Purdue in 1954 as Assistant Professor of Metallurgical Engineering. During his Purdue tenure, he held a number of administrative posts such as Head of the School of Materials Science and Metallurgical Engineering [1965-1972], Head of the division of Interdisciplinary Studies [1969 -1981], Head of the Department of freshman Engineering and Assistant Dean of Engineering [1981-1987], Vice President for Student Services [1987-1995], Director of Undergraduate Studies Program [1995-2000]. Grace discusses the changes the university has gone through. He has been the recipient of many awards including the Centennial Medallion from American Society for Engineering Education, Linton E. Grinter Distinguished Service Award, from ABET and Distinguished Service Award.
