Abstract of InterviewDonald Powers is a native Hoosier who received a BS in Agriculture 1957, served as a Navy Pilot in WWII and the Korean War. He talks about his professional career in Munster, Indiana. Powers was appointed to the Board of Trustees by Governor Otis Bowen in 1975 and served until July 1, 1990. During his time on the Board, he served as Chairman from 1982-1987. He recounts his time on the Board and the responsibilities of the Board, especially selection of the University President. Awards include Distinguished Alumni in 1987 and an Honorary Doctorate in 1992. Quote: Primary function of the board...keeping the University put together and moving along.
