Abstract of InterviewPaul Ziemer is a Purdue graduate (PhD 1962 major Bionucleonics). He recounts his career path at Oak Ridge National Laboratory where he was a Health Physicist before he worked for Purdue. He served in the radiological control office from 1959 to 1982 at Purdue and at the same time he served in the Health Physics Unit. In the Bionucleonics Department, which was in the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, he served as Associate Head until 1979 when he became Associate Head, School of Health Sciences. He talks about the School of Health Sciences where he served as Head from 1983 to 1990, faculty recruitment, students and teaching. He served as Assistant Secretary of Energy for Environment, Safety and Health, US Department of Energy from 1990 to 1993 and then returned as Head of the School of Health Sciences. Ziemer has been the recipient of many awards Fellowship with the Health Physics Society, Tony and Mary Hulman Award, Indiana Public Health Foundation Founders Award, Health Physics Society.
