Abstract of InterviewSally Frost Mason talks about early years growing up in the Midwest and receiving a BS in Zoology from the University of Kentucky in 1972, MS from Purdue in 1974 and her Ph.D. in Cellular, Molecular and Developmental Biology from the University of Arizona in 1978. Prior to her appointment at Purdue as Provost in 2001, she was a faculty member at the University of Kansas. During the interview Mason talks about her impressions of the campus in 2001 versus when a she was a graduate student in 1972 and other topics such as Discovery Park, OnePurdue, interdisciplinary research, women in academia, MOSAIC and Diversity and Undergraduate research which has led to service learning programs such as EPICS. As of August 1, 2007, she became the 20th President of the University of Iowa.
