Abstract of Interview
Robert
DeMoss
was
born
in
Dayton
,
Kentucky
and
graduated
from
Purdue
in
1950.
He
played
high
school
at
Dayton
and was
recruited
to
play
football
at
Purdue
and
became
a
starting
quarterback
his
freshman
year.
He
served
as
Assistant
Coach
at
Purdue
from
1950
to
1969
and
Head
Coach
1970-1975.
DeMoss
discusses
Purdues
win
over
Indiana
University
in
1972
at the
annual
Oaken
Bucket
game.
He
talks
about
recruiting
,
challenges
,
opportunities
and
responsibilities
of the
position
during
his
period
as
Head
Football
Coach.
DeMoss
comments
on
people
who
starred
as
quarterbacks
or
team
players
such
as
Mike
Phipps
,
Dale
Samuels
,
Bob
Griese
,
Otis
Armstrong
,
Leroy
Keys.
After
stepping
down
as
Head
Coach
, he
continued
