Abstract of Interview
As
Director
of the
Latino
Cultural
Center
(LCC)
[2004]
Alvarado
talks
about
the
center
, the
challenges
she
faced
as
director
including
budget
,
faculty
,
student
interest
and
facilities.
Now
under
the
Office
of the
Provost
,
Alvarado
discusses
change
in
funding
and
programming
and
change
in
reporting
structure.
She also
discusses
the
first
annual
retreat
in
2004
and its
effect
on the
operation
of
LCC.
Other
items
talked
about
are
retention
and
recruitment
of
students
to the
center
,
along
with
faculty
and
staff.
Alvarado
talks
about
program
development
since
her
arrival
including
the
Embajadores
[student
ambassadors]
and
outreach
to the
University
and
local
community.
