DescriptionPresident Steven Beering proposed international development within Purdue University. Purdue celebrated the 50th anniversary of Elliott Hall of Music. Students raised $1 million during the phone-a-thon in January. Over 80, 000 alumni were contacted. Maury Williamson retired as Executive Secretary of the Agriculture department after 37 years of service. Five Purdue researchers were given a $5 million grant from NASA to research ways to sustain life in outer space.
Description ContinuedRandy Woodson used a gene gun to improve characteristics in plants and Fred Akers resigned as Head Coach of Purdue Football; Jim Colletto was named as the new head coach. The Mollenkopf Athletic Center was donated in June and named for Jack Mollenkopf.
