Córdova became University President. The Grand Prix, Athletic Center, and School of Management celebrated 50th anniversaries.The Neil Armstrong Hall of Engineering was dedicated. The Gerald and Edna Mann Hall and the Beck Agricultural Center was completed. Ground was broken for the Wayne and Mary Hockmeyer Hall of Structural Biology. The Niswonger Aviation Technology Building and the Bill and Sally Hanley Hall were unveiled.
Description ContinuedPlans were made for Marriott Hall for Hospitality and Tourism Management. The Native American Cultural Center was dedicated. The Schwartz Tennis Center was dedicated. Plans were unveiled for an $82 million Mackey Arena renovation. The men's basketball team lost in the NCAA Tournament to Florida in the second round. The women's basketball team lost to North Carolina in regional finals after defeating Ohio State. Joe Tiller planned to retire after the 2008 season to be replaced by Danny Hope. The women's soccer team won its first Big 10 championship. The volleyball team advanced to the NCAA Tournament second round for the fourth straight year. The Purdue School of Engineering and Technology became the first to offer a degree in motor sports. Liz Lehmann became the first female driver to win the Grand Prix. The Dalai Lama spoke at homecoming. 100th anniversary of the block "P" marching band formation. Length: 18:27
