| Description | Photograph of President F.L. Hovde, Lafayette, Ind., Nov. 19 -- India's ambassador to the United States, G.L. Mehta, visited Purdue University on Wednesday and Thursday. Among the events given in his honor was a tea and reception with 23 Indian students currently enrolled at Purdue as hosts. Ambassador Mehta addressed a class on great issues at the university. Shown at the reception are Prof. Arthur Tichenor, Purdue Advisor to foreign students; Vice-President Frank C. Hockema; Purdue; Mrs. Shanti Kabir, New Delhi, general secretary of the Society for Social and Morale Hygene in India, now in Indiana studying 4-H Club work. She is also the wife of the Indian minister of education; President Frederick L. Hovde, Purdue; Ambassador Mehta; Kishin Gursaheny, of Bombay, president of the Indian Students' Association at Purdue; and R.K. Kapur, educational attache at the Indian embassy in Washington. Gurgahaney is found only in 1953 and 1954 Debris. Mehta was ambassador to the U.S. from Oct. 1952 to Oct. 1958 |
